Pepper Spray Certification for Tennessee Security Guards

The Pepper Spray (OC) Certification Course provides the training required under Tennessee Code Annotated §62-35for guards who will carry or deploy chemical agents during licensed security work.

Students receive instruction on the legal standards governing chemical agent use, safe handling, spray patterns, deployment distances, effects on the body, and proper decontamination techniques. The course emphasizes accountability, documentation, and aftercare following exposure incidents.

Upon successful completion, students receive an OC certification card from a qualified instructor. This card must be carried while on duty and presented on request to law enforcement or Department of Commerce & Insurance inspectors. Employers must also maintain training records for each certified employee.

This training is conducted every Thursday at 8:00 a.m. by state-certified instructors from Absolute Protection Academy.
