Tennessee Armed Guard License Training

The Tennessee Armed Security Guard License is required for individuals who provide private security services while carrying a firearm. Applicants must hold an active unarmed guard license and meet all eligibility requirements under Tennessee Code Annotated §62-35.

This 16-hour state-approved course includes classroom instruction on firearm safety, use of force, marksmanship, and Tennessee firearm laws. Students must pass a written exam and live-fire qualification to complete training.

After completing the course, students may apply for their armed guard registration with the Tennessee Department of Commerce and Insurance. The process includes electronic fingerprinting, background screening, and payment of the state licensing fee.

This two day course is conducted by state-certified instructors from Absolute Protection Academy every Monday and Tuesday.
