Baton Certification for Tennessee Security Guards

The Baton Certification Course meets Tennessee’s training requirements under Tennessee Code Annotated §62-35 for licensed guards who carry an impact device while on duty.

This hands-on course covers the legal framework, safety considerations, defensive techniques, target zones, and control applications for expandable and straight batons. Students learn both the physical and legal responsibilities associated with baton use, emphasizing proportional response and proper documentation.

Upon completion, participants are issued a baton certification card by a qualified instructor, which must be carried on duty and presented to law enforcement or inspectors upon request. Employers are responsible for maintaining individual training records for all certified guards.

This training is conducted every Thursday at 8:00 a.m. by state-certified instructors from Absolute Protection Academy.
